Digital surrogate model of a microwave sensor system

Recently, a new sensing system was created and patented by academics at Heriot-Watt University. A spin out company, MicroSense Technology sLtd was created to exploit the technology.

The microwave sensor system has successfully been applied to detection of quality of food, detection of counterfeited products and asset management.

The project aims to build on previous projects carried out in the creation of an ab initio model of the microwave applicator head combined with the frequency microwave continuous wave radar.

the student will use Matlab or other programming and simulation language (Python, R, Julia) for analysis of the experimental data obtained by the system. The theoretical model will be compared to the experimental,ental data for validation.

The work is mainly based on simulation as experimental data are readily available for theoretical validation.
