Mechanical design and analysis of a baseplate and housing for an optical system

We require a mechanical engineer to design and analyse a base plate and housing unit for a small optical system that is to be mounted on a GPS pointing and tracking unit to scan the sky at night. The optical system consists of a small number of telescopes and detectors currently on a small breadboard and with no environmental protection. The student will view the current system and design a baseplate and housing unit to make the optical system robust to a broad range of environmental conditions.
