Near-zero emissions coal fired power plants by deep CO2 capture

This project will look at the integration of a coal fired power plant with an amine unit focussing on reducing emissions to near zero. This will entail capturing most of the CO2 present in flue gas (more than 90%) and co-firing biomass to off-set the non-capturable emissions.
Our models for coal fired power plants and amine plants will be used to asses a variety of amine solvents and process modifications that will reduce emissions near to zero. Combination of part load operation with high penetration of renewables will be also investigated as a possibility to reduce emissions.

Other Comments:

Prior knowledge in any sort of modelling is recommended. Training in Aspen Plus will be provided.
