The project is a part of a larger validation project, which is currently running at Vert Rotors Ltd. The purpose of this project is to calculate and build a test rig to validate performance of Vert's 20-bar super-compressor for rocket fuel.
The project will include multiple tasks where MEng/MSc students can be involved and work with other members of the team:
- Calculation and stress analysis of the Super-compressor in the satellite propulsion booster application using FEA solver software, assess compatibility of construction materials and seals with vacuum and rocket fuel
- Conducting a study of satellite propulsion systems, and design a simulation laboratory test rig to simulate operation of a propulsion system
- Building a test environment and conducting tests
