An introduction of the laboratory, its role and main focus will be given before focusing on two selected research areas, RF energy harvesting and high efficiency Power Amplifiers (PA). A set of feasibility studies related to ambient RF energy harvesting and one example of a wireless power transfer application will be discussed. The talk will then focus on the challenges associated with the PA design in modern communication systems and some of the work conducted in TRL. Instead of conclusions, some interesting current and future challenges will be discussed.
