Renewable Fuels and Climate Change: the Brazilian Scenario
The seminar will address the Brazilian scenario in research related to the use of renewable fuels and carbon capture technologies. While Brazil has achieved a major reduction in emissions from land use change and deforestation, emissions from the energy generation and Industry sectors have grown substantially in the last 20 years. The researchers developed by Group of the LC3 (Laboratory of Combustion and Carbon Capture) will be shown, as well as the FAPESP Research Program in Global Climate Change (PFPMCG) in order to establish international collaborations and student mobility.
Biography:
Ivonete Ávila has a Ph.D. (2008) from University of São Paulo (USP) and worked as an academic visitor (2010-2011) at University of Southampton (UK). She became an assistant professor of the São Paulo State University (UNESP) in 2012. She is currently the leader of an emerging group in carbon capture studies in Brazil and has funding from FAPESP program of Research on Global Climate Change - PFPMCG. Professor Ávila’s work covers transport phenomena and thermal engineering, focusing on the theme combustion: energy and environment.
