The use of electromagnetic waves at Microwave through Terahertz wavelengths is area of much recent research activity and industrial application follow through. This seminar will describe some of the interdisciplinary work of the Imaging and Sensing group within the Centre of Wireless Innovation at Queens University of Belfast, both on-going and recent. Approaches involving the use of meta surface techniques for holographic beam scanning will be described. The talk will then progress to look at the physical and software aspects related to the currently popular topic of compressive imaging. Specifically issues around physical layer compression and computation imaging modalities supporting compression will be discussed as will be basic attributes used for image reconstruction. Some applications cases such as Through Wall Imaging and Angle of Arrival Estimation will be described. Finally, a brief overview of deep learning methods applied to improving image resolution will be discussed.
The talk should be of interest to those involved in microwave design and signal processing interdisciplinary activity.
