Recent progress in quantum communication and quantum-enhanced imaging

Synopsis: 

In the first part, I will present our recent progress to solve the challenges of security, long-distance and practicality toward the global quantum network. I will primarily talk our efforts on device-independent QKD [PRL 128, 110506; PRL 129, 050502 (2022)], high-speed quantum communication [Nature Photonics 17, 416 (2023)] and twin-field QKD [PRL 130, 250802 (2023)]. In the second part, I will talk our work to push the general applications of single-photon imaging, including single-photon LiDAR algorithm and experiment [IEEE TPAMI 45, 4180 (2023); Optica 8, 344 (2021)], and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) imaging [PNAS 118, e2024468118; PRL 127, 053602 (2021)].

Biography: 

Feihu Xu has been a tenured Professor of Physics at USTC since 2021. Before joining USTC in 2017, he was a Postdoctoral Associate at MIT in 2015-2017. He received an M.A.Sc and Ph.D from University of Toronto in 2011 and 2015. He works on quantum information technology and has co-authored more than 100 journal papers including RMP, Nature, Nat Photon, PRL/X etc. He is the fellow of Optica and the fellow of IOP. He is the recipient of International Quantum Technology Early Career Scientist Award, Changjiang Scholar, Xplorer Prize, MIT Technology Review 35 Innovators Under 35 of China. He serves as Associate Editor of npj Quantum Information, and the Steering Committee of QCrypt.
