High Energy diode-pumped solid-state laser as Pump for a 10 Hz PW-level Ti:Sapphire Amplifier

Tue, 21/11/2023 - 13:00 to 13:25
Speaker:
Agnes Wojtusiak
Synopsis:

A bonus lunchtime talk by one of our EngD Research Engineers, Agnes Wojtusiak, at the Central Laser Facility, STFC.

“The Extreme Photonics Applications Centre (EPAC) is an upcoming state-of-the-art research facility currently under development at the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in the United Kingdom. It will deliver petawatt pulses at an unprecedented rate of 10 Hz, made possible by pumping titanium-doped sapphire gain medium with a diode-pumped solid state laser based on the Central Laser Facility’s cryogenic DiPOLE technology. I will present the DPSSL pump design and its incorporation into the wider PW system, reporting on the most up-to-date commissioning status and results of the DPSSL pump laser.”

Location: Robotarium MultiFlex (If we are overwhelmed with interest, we might need to move to another location)
