My Unintended Journey as an EDI Champion

In this seminar, I will share my personal experiences navigating the complex landscape of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) as a woman in academia. Despite not exactly setting out to become an EDI advocate, my journey has been shaped by the challenges and opportunities I encountered. I will discuss the multitude of (more or less) subtle and mostly untold difficulties faced daily by women in academic settings, the pivotal moments that propelled me into the role of an unwilling EDI champion, and the impact of my advocacy on my career and community. Through this narrative, I aim to highlight the importance of EDI initiatives, the usefulness of uncomfortable conversations, and the need for continued efforts to create inclusive academic environments.
