Going beyond emissions reduction – Climate Repair

Fri, 17/01/2025 - 11:00 to 12:00
Speaker:
Dr Shaun Fitzgerald OBE
Affiliation:
University of Cambridge
Synopsis:

We will first discuss the state of the climate and some of the recent changes. We will look at the trend in emissions and greenhouse gas (GHG) levels, and importantly the trajectories which are now considered by the IPCC. We will then investigate options for following different trajectories. We will discuss the role of GHG removal and crucially some of the bigger opportunities which are still in a nascent state. Finally, we will also look at some approaches which could be available to stave off the worst effects of climate change whilst we scale up schemes to reduce GHGs.
