Synopsis:

Rare-earth ions doped nanomaterials with frequency conversion features, i.e., up-conversion, quantum cutting down-conversion or down-shift emissions, had been intensely studied in recent years, stimulated by their important potential applications in the fields of solid laser, three dimensional display, LED as well as photovoltaic solar cell. Prof. Yuansheng Wang’s group in Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter, Chinese Academy of Sciences, focus mainly on synthesis, structure control and frequency conversion behavior of the rare-earth doped inorganic nanomaterials. This presentation introduces some of their recent investigation progresses, including phase and size modification of super-fine up-conversion fluoride nanocrystals in solution system, nanostructured transparent glass ceramics with ultra-violet up-conversion or near-infrared quantum-cutting down-conversion emissions, etc.
