Synopsis: 

The subject of the presentation is the design of embedded systems for applications in agriculture. The focus will be on data acquisition and communication systems. Presentation is organized in four parts: i) applications description, ii) architectures, iii) design and implementation, and iv) systems demonstration. Attendees will see the applications met in agriculture followed by their description, aims, and requirements for systems and skills. Also, the architectures with which data acquisition and communication systems can be designed will be presented as well. In addition, the associated development tools ecosystem will be presented together with some real life systems demonstration.

Biography: 

Dimitrios Piromalis is a lecturer in the Automation Department of the Technological and Educational Institute of Piraeus in Greece. His is a PhD candidate in “embedded automation systems and wireless sensor networks in agriculture” in Agricultural University of Athens. He holds a MSc. In “Manufacturing: Management and Technology” from the Open University, and a BSc. In Automation Engineering from the Technological and Educational Institute of Piraeus. His research field is the design of embedded systems for data acquisition and communication systems based on microcontrollers and microprocessors. He has many research articles in scientific conferences and journals. Also, he has write several books for microcontrollers and data acquisition technologies.
