Synopsis:

The Alphasat project represents the first application of the new large communication platform AlphaBus. In addition to the communication payload, several technology demonstration payloads (TDPs) have been proposed as part of the overall satellite architecture. The TDP#5 (also called the Q-/V-Band Payload) represents the space element of a complete Q-/V-Band (mmWave) System, aimed to support various experiments (Communication, Scientific and Technology demonstration experiments). The Communication Experiment, being performed by means of a dedicated Q-/V-Band section of the payload, represents a realistic scaled-down version of Reference Application Mission, exploiting the Q-Band and the V-Band frequency ranges. This presentation will review the TDP#5 payload with some more detail on key components and also discuss the design of Q-/V-Band terminals, on board high speed trains and/or on high altitude planes (Avionic to TDP#5_ALPHASAT payload), will conclude the intended presentation.
