Progress in Propagation and Wireless Channel Modeling for High-Speed Railway Scenarios

Fri, 08/05/2015 - 14:00 to 15:00

Location:

Speaker:
Dr. Ruisi He
Affiliation:
The State Key Laboratory of Rail Traffic Control and Safety, Beijing Jiaotong University
Synopsis:

High-speed railways (HSRs) have been widely introduced to meet the increasing demand for passenger rail travel. Investigation of wireless propagation channel is the basis for HSR communication system design, and it is thus becoming an active research field. BJTU in China is at the forefront of HSR propagation channel research. In this talk, I will briefly introduce the development of HSR in the world, particularly from the wireless propagation channel perspective. I will then focus on the propagation channel modeling. Some recent measurement campaigns are introduced, and several channel modeling approaches of HSR channel are presented. Finally, the on-going activities of LTE-Railways and some challenging issues are introduced and discussed.

Biography:

Ruisi HE received the B.E. and Ph.D. degrees from Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing, China, in 2009 and 2015, respectively. He is currently an Associate Professor with the State Key Laboratory of Rail Traffic Control and Safety, Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing, China. From 2010 to 2014, He has been a Visiting Scholar in Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, Spain, University of Southern California, USA, and Universite Catholique de Louvain, Belgium.
