Synopsis: 

In a massive MIMO implementation, the power amplifier (PA) load presented by the antenna varies due to the electromagnetic coupling between the radiating elements. Digital pre-distortion (DPD) linearization techniques can be seriously affected by this impedance mismatch between the PA and the antenna. Consequently, the PA performances in terms of linearity and efficiency degrade and the complex gain varies. In this seminar, different load-pull techniques to measure the input impedance variation impact on the PA performance will be introduced and empirical results will be presented.

Biography: 

María Jesús Cañavate Sánchez was born in Cartagena, Spain, in 1992. She received the B.Eng. (Honours) degree in Telecommunication Systems Engineering from Technical University of Cartagena, Spain, in 2014 and she is currently working towards her Ph.D. at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, United Kingdom. Her Ph.D. is partly funded by the company Space Engineering (SPEN), now part of the world leading Airbus Defence and Space, Space Systems. Her main research interests include power amplifier behavioural modelling as well as nonlinear analysis of RF signals for end-to-end communication system performance evaluation.
