It has been 150 years since Mendeleev presented the Periodic Table, and how successful it proved to be ! I will talk you through how laying out the elements in a systematic fashion is used to make predictions of properties that might otherwise be unexpected, using examples from my own work from group I -the alkali metals- through to phosphorus and it's similarities to carbon, as well as examples from the transition metals and compounds of uranium.
The event will include a Wine Reception after the talk as an opportunity for networking and a coffee/biscuits reception beforehand with some Chemistry themed Magic Tricks!
