Synopsis:

Dr Stefano Poletto from Rigetti Computing will give a talk on "Quantum computing with superconducting qubits" - an abstract is below. Please join the webinar using the Teams link provided. Note that this talk is at 4pm.

In this lecture I will describe how superconducting transmon qubits are engineered, designed, fabricated, and controlled to build a quantum processor.
I will start with an overview on artificial atoms and the history of superconducting qubits from their birth to the most recent superconducting quantum processors. I will introduce the Transmon qubit (one of the leading superconducting qubit) emphasizing similarities with standard microwave engineer elements such as transmission lines, resonators, and capacitive or inductive couplings.
Finally, I will explain how qubits and processors are readout and manipulated, with a special emphasis on the parametric two-qubit gate implemented at Rigetti computing.
