Simultaneous Perception and Manipulation

Wed, 17/07/2024 - 14:00 to 15:00
Speaker:
Claudio Zito
Affiliation:
School of MACS, Dubai Campus
Synopsis:

Early efforts in AI were very effective on tasks typically associated with high intelligence, such as playing chess or medical diagnoses. However, daily manipulation tasks that we, as humans, perform with almost no thinking are still a challenge for robots. Let me take you on a journey of my own, through snapshots of my projects and achievements, working to identify a different type of intelligence needed for these challenging tasks.
