In this talk, I will present the development of a Research Fellowship proposal for the Royal Academy of Engineering, entitled “Multi-modal Approach to Monitor and Detect Late-Onset Preeclampsia in Daily Life”. The purpose of this talk is to explain how, in the process of "trying to check the boxes on EDI," I learned how to truly develop a proposal that genuinely aimed to be both diverse and inclusive. This journey was shaped by feedback and support from senior researchers, each of whom contributed unique perspectives on EDI. Their insights helped me propose a project focused on medical technology for monitoring and detecting the pregnancy complication preeclampsia.
I will discuss the key concepts covered in the section titled “Diversity and Inclusion,” and how I integrated these ideas into my own career goals and ambitions.
Ultimately, I hope to inspire other academics and foster a supportive environment for EDI-focused proposal development.
