What made a difference: Mentorship, Coaching and Sponsorship

Our April EDI seminar will be chaired by Dr Stella Howden (Associate Professor, Learning and Teaching Academy) and includes a panel discussion.

In this seminar, we explore the value and impact of mentorship, coaching, and sponsorship through personal accounts from colleagues at HW and Dr Shalini Gupta (University of Dundee) who shares her experiences of Advance HE’s Diversifying Leadership Programme.
Participants will hear firsthand experiences from both sides of these supportive relationships — whether as a coach or coachee, mentor or mentee, sponsor or protégé.
Our speakers share their journeys within the Higher Education context, highlighting what approaches they found to be effective.
Additionally, we highlight the various development and support opportunities available at Heriot-Watt University, offering practical advice on how access these resources for personal and professional growth.
