Outreach activities provide scientists with an opportunity to engage with non-specialist audiences, helping to demonstrate the relevance of fundamental research and build relationships with local communities. In this lecture, I will describe a selection of projects that I hope will serve as inspiration for anyone wishing to become involved in public engagement. These projects include the design of new experiments for use in schools, developing low-cost chemistry equipment and establishing new collaborations for the production of new chemistry computer games.
