Synopsis:
Technology is changing and there is an urgent need for new science and engineering in order to realize a more sustainable human society. Catalysis has a major role to play in the evolution of the chemical industry. Some key challenges in green catalysis will be discussed. Topics will include combining bio- and chemo-catalysis, valorizing biomass, nucleophilic ‘transfer’ fluorination and catalysis within ionic liquid gels.
