Clinical engineers play a key role in the NHS, where they contribute to medical device design and development, the support of clinical service delivery and ensuring medical equipment safety and effectiveness.
Drawing on his NHS experience Richard will bring the role of clinical engineers to life. He will describe the development of a novel lung function test that requires minimal subject cooperation, the development of a systems approach to the life cycle management of health care technologies and a future where engineers assist navigation of new technologies into clinical use for patient benefit.
