It is known that successful recovery from ischaemia is attributed to angiogenesis. However, little is known regarding the exact evolution of the architecture and dynamics of the nascent vascular network that is required to achieve efficacious reperfusion. This study will develop an in silico model - benchmarked against experimental phantom data and murine models of limb ischaemia – to investigate this complex physiological phenomenon. This computational approach will provide a practical framework for the development of future diagnostics.
