Developing novel models for environmental toxicity testing of PFAS mixtures.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a large group of environmental contaminants of increasing concern. The toxicity of most PFAS is poorly understood; even less is known about the effects from exposure to mixtures of PFAS. Additionally, when mixtures are investigated, studies are usually ill-designed to detect interactions (e.g. synergy) and are predominantly in human in vitro models. In this seminar I will introduce two in vivo models I am currently developing for the purpose of environmental chemical mixture toxicity testing.
