Beyond Systems Biology - towards next-generation questions in cell and molecular sciences

Wed, 22/01/2014 - 14:30 to 15:30

Location:

Speaker:
Professor Paul O'Shea, Cell Biophysics Group, School of Life Sciences
Affiliation:
University of Nottingham
Synopsis:

This presentation will outline some of the work done in our labortories and try and define some of the key questions for next-generation studies. Two strands of the work we do will be described: some of our emerging data from studies with cell membranes will be outlined as it suggests new ways to consider cell signalling reactions. Secondly, some of our work related to the development of sensing technologies towards multi-dimensional detection of disease and for biomedical research will be described. Although each broad strand appears quite different, together they point towards some common questions in life sciences that need to be addressed in the future. These will be outlined and developed during the course of the presentation.
