Synopsis:

Mechanochemical synthesis involves simply grinding together solid reactants. Since it requires little or no solvent it is potentially a sustainable and economic alternative to solution-based process. The scope of this ‘rediscovered’ synthetic technique (in coordination chemistry, MOFs, organic synthesis and catalyst synthesis), recent work to understanding it more fundamentally, and commercial scale-up by continuous flow will be presented.
Porous Liquids Permanent porosity is normally only associated with solids. However, with careful design permanently porous liquids can also be prepared. The first examples of these materials for which the permanent porosity is conclusively shown and which show unusually high gas solubility will be presented.
