It is my pleasure to announce our upcoming event Through the Looking Glass – Breaking Barriers in STEM on October 28th 12.00 – 3.30 pm, which aims to shape inclusivity in STEM through action. The first part of the day will be a series of short talks, from some exceptional early career researchers, on their experiences and achievements being part of and working with minority groups in STEM. Our panel cover a broad range of topics around Inclusion and Diversity including, being BME in academia, LGBTQ+, disability and mental health.
The talks will be followed by breakout sessions, which will further explore certain key areas, fostering solution-based discussion to identify actions that could be taken forward to make impactful and sustainable change in academia and the broader society. SULSA and our partners will strive to deliver on this actions. We want to hear from you about your ideas and provide the opportunity for you to work with us moving forward to deliver on these actions.
We are delighted that Richard Lochhead, MSP, will be attending the panel session, a wonderful opportunity for our early career speakers. We hope that you will join us, you can register and find out more information about the event here.
This event has been developed by SULSA, led by our SULSA ECR representatives Ally Hughes (University of Strathclyde) and Kirsty Robb (IBioIC) and is supported by our fellow Research Innovation Scotland members; SINAPSE, ScotCHEM, SUPA, MASTS and IBioIC.
