I’ll be reviewing our latest research on multiple sclerosis and Type I diabetes islet transplantation using a combination of electrode arrays and high-resolution micro-fluidics all fabricated in Heriot- Watt. To do this I’ll review the biophysical basis for bioelectrical potentials (static and dynamic) in cells and how we can use them as a label free way of interrogating cell health and physiology. I’ll illustrate how we have applied this to these two problems in the last 2-3 years with varying levels of success!
