Alkylboronic esters have much potential as valuable C-sp3 rich chemical building blocks due to their tolerance and orgothonal reactivity to other common functional groups. However, limiting their uptake in synthesis currently is the underdevelopment of methods to convert the C-B bond into a range of other motifs, in stark contrast to the multitude of methods reported to functionalise arylboronic acids. This talk will outline our recent efforts to develop Cu-catalysed processes for the amination of alkyl boronic esters.
